DMV: Now that I’m done playing Guilty Gear 2: Overture (thank God), I’ve moved onto going between Dead Space and various PSN games, along with the Resistance 2 beta. Unlike Samit and seemingly everyone else, I am not enjoying it in the least. The Co-op missions play like this: I try to capture a point, a giant group of enemies spawn and kills me, then they proceed to camp out over my body and kill me 5 seconds after I’ve spawned. Not a fun time, in my opinion.
Chad: Nothing but Tales of Vesperia.
I love Rita and Repede. <3
Jim: This week, my red-ringed Xbox 360 was returned to me. However, it red-ringed the very next day. Again.
Luckily, it seems to still be working so I’m hoping there’s enough juice left in it to keep me going for the next few weeks. I accidentally buggered up my copy of Saint’s Row 2, but I just started Fable 2 and so far I’m enjoying it. I played through most of Heavenly Sword last week, and I’m also rocking Neverland Card Battles for an upcoming review. Methinks that’s about all that’s worth noting.
Jonathan: I got my first genuine videogame-induced hand cramp of the year from Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. The game’s need for multiple button usage is nearly on the same level as Street Fighter II. Activating your support glyph while doing jumping and doing a two-button combo then back dashing to safety ain’t easy, but it’s a lot more fun than the standard, simplified Castlevania combat system.
Also playing Sam and Max: Season One on the Wii, and trying to play Strong Bad Ep. 3 on PC, but my old-ass computer is having a hell of a time of it. May have to wait for the Wii port to drop tomorrow to fully complete it. Bummer, too, because so far, I like it better than the previous episodes.
Dale: I just finished off Dead Space to get back to my new passion: Dokapon Kingdom for the Wii. I am also playing through review copies of both Luminous Arc 2 and Eternal Poison, both of which I am thoroughly enjoying.
Grim: It’s mostly been the World at War beta and beating Dead Space twice to get that damn full upgrade achievement.
Samit: Samit Sarkar got promoted to the New York Rangers’ first line in his NHL 09 Be A Pro career, woohoo! (I’m talking about myself in the third person because, you know, I created myself in the game.) I’m kicking ass — averaging more than a goal a game since my call-up to the NHL — so I feel like I deserved it. I also played Rock Band on Thursday night with MaxVest and shipero, as usual, though I don’t know if they’re going to leave me behind now that Rock Band 2 is out on the PS3; I won’t be able to get that game for a while.
I fired up the Resistance 2 Public Beta for the first time last night, and I absolutely loved what little I played! I only tried three rounds of 40-player competitive multiplayer in Chicago, but they were awesome. Of course, I sucked when I started out, but I began improving immediately — in three rounds, I finished 31st, then 19th, and then 10th! I never got into the online multiplayer modes of Resistance: Fall of Man for one reason or another, but I could see myself sinking days and days into R2 (like I did with Call of Duty 4 last winter).
Nick: Fallout 3; Call of Duty: World at War single-player (and cooperative) campaign; Mirror’s Edge; Tornado (a cute little DS game that has a Katamari feel); Need for Speed Underground; Midnight Club: Los Angeles (on Xbox 360 and PSP); and my wife and I just finished playing through Silent Hill: Homecoming on the Xbox 360.
Phew. I hope to start playing Fable II, Guitar Hero World Tour, and Dead Space this week … key word being “hope.”
Topher: I was so disappointed with the new maps in Portal: Still Alive and how quickly I blasted through them that I replayed the entire original game with the Developer Commentary turned on to make it feel like I’d gotten my money’s worth. Awesome value if you’ve never played Portal or don’t own The Orange Box, but otherwise, meh.
Aside from that; PixelJunk Eden, Mainichi Issho, My Japanese Coach, and Kimi no Yuusha.
Justin: Just a little bit of Kirby Superstar Ultra here and there. I’ve been way too busy this week for much game playin’.
