It’s 11.30pm as I write this and I am very tired, so I am phoning it in this week. Unfortunately, Destructoid was down for maintenance this weekend so I buggered off and went gallivanting around the countryside and now I’ve left it late to post this. I was also moonlighting for other Web sites a bit, but don’t tell Niero!

So, games happened this week, and you can hit the jump to find out what we’ve been playing. Do it now, please, and feel free to tell us what you’ve been playing too.

Concelmo: Cover your eyes for this one, Anthony. I am playing, AND LOVING (!), the new Punch-Out!! for Wii. To me, it combines all the best parts of Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! and Super Punch-Out!! in one pretty, addictive package. And since the first two games are two of my favorite videogames of all time, this is most definitely a good thing!

Also playing through the downloadable Epilogue of Prince of Persia for the Xbox 360, some more Space Invaders Extreme, and starting (finally!) on MadWorld.

Bennett: Like Chad, I am also playing Punch-Out!! and loving every second of it. It’s loaded with personality, but best of all, it really does remind me of the frustration of playing the original games when I was a kid, and that’s a great thing. I’m almost up to Soda Popinski, in fact … let’s see if I can beat him down this time!

I’m dedicating a large portion of the weekend to finishing Persona 4 and beginning Devil Summoner 2. I expect to finish the former today, and feel both happy that I will finish and sad to finally see it end. Last but not least, I played a great deal of Diner Dash for the DS on my airplane rides this week, and I have to admit I’m a little embarrassed about it, but I’m truly addicted to that game.

Holmes: I also got Punch-Out!!, and I’m also loving it, which comes as a bit of a shock. Generally speaking, I prefer 2D sprites to 3D polygon models, but this is one case where a next-gen face lift is actually warranted. The game looks incredible, and the camera work goes a long way to make each match more exciting and dynamic.

The major thing that had me worried about the game pre-release was it’s difficulty. That has definitely not turned out to be an issue. As an old Punch-Out-pro, I can say that this is the hardest Punch-Out!! game I’ve ever played. Watch out Colette, the new Soda Popinski is way tougher than the one we remember.  He’s kicked my ass many a time.

Also playing Rag Doll Kung Fu. I’m shocked by how responsive the jump button is, and how many cool moves you can do in the game, given that is comes from the creators of LittleBigPlanet.

Finally, I’ve been playing Art Style:PiCTOBiTS for review. It’s plays like a perfect cross between Tetris and Planet Puzzle League, which makes it my new favorite puzzle game EVER.

Ross: I’m addicted to Demigod, and have gotten about 7 or 8 other Dtoiders to pick it up to play with me. It’s a ton of fun (when it works), unfortunately it still has a few bugs. Also been enjoying the Spy/Sniper update on Team Fortress 2, and have been sneaking in some Valkyria Chronicles whenever I can get a chance.

Sterling: It’s been all about Sacred 2 this week. The game is so awful, yet awesome at the same time. Plus, the controls are surprisingly good on the 360 and there’s nothing else like it on current-gen systems right now. I also picked up a cheap copy of Alien Trilogy for the PSX to satiate my recent Aliens kick. Nostalgia had convinced me the game was awesome. Nostalgia was so very wrong.

Aziz: Played some Call of Duty 4 and Section 8 this past week. If my Internet wasn’t so much shit, I’d be playing a ton more games. I still haven’t played an actually game of Left 4 Dead with anyone online (not including the press events I’ve been too).

North: I’m wrapping up Crimson Gem Saga for a Destructoid review this week. This PSP RPG was a pleasant surprise! I’m also getting my ass kicked in Devil Survivor, the upcoming DS SRPG from Atlus. I just started Boom Blox Bash Party, too. My Wii is getting plenty of use lately.

Chester: I’m playing the “moving stuff from my old home to my new home” game. Before that, I was playing the excellent inFAMOUS and Rock Band Unplugged. When I am unpacked, I will play the “get ready for E3 game.” Good times!

Zimmerman: Is that “moving stuff” game fun? I think I’m probably going to be playing that in the next couple of months myself.

I played Bionic Commando which, if the review is any indication, I found to be rather dull and disappointing. Now I’m playing Terminator: Salvation for review and Wanted: Weapons of Fate which is surprisingly fun. And a little Plants vs. Zombies.

Sarkar: I rocked some more MLB 09 The Show this week — Samit Sarkar has risen to the #3 spot in the Yankees’ rotation, bumping Joba Chamberlain to the bullpen! — and I also inched closer to earning my Burnout license (only eight wins away now) in Burnout Paradise. I’m really excited about picking up the awesome-looking “Big Surf Island” DLC when it launches on June 11th.

Last night, I went to power-glove’s place for his Birthday Boogaloo and played a bunch of stuff — 3 on 3 NHL Arcade, Rock Band, Guitar Hero World Tour — and I also watched people play Blazing Birds on XBLA. That game looks fun! “Fatalities” FTW.
