Games of the week for 01/25/09: You wanna be in my gang edition

I dare say a few British readers will have thought that it’s high time Consolevania got some love, and hey, for once our Games of the Week video is actually videogame related. How about that for a Brucey Bonus?

I’ll make this quick because I want to go back to reading World War Z. There were games this week and we played them with our hands. You may hit the jump to find out exactly what the Hell we played, alright?

Topher: The Maw, Shikigami no Shiro II, the F.E.A.R. 2 demo, and uh … was that it? Shit, I guess that was it.

DMV: Haunting Ground has gotten somewhat tedious, but now that I’ve completed the first chapter, I’m sure it’ll pick up from here — I hope. Other than that, been playing Skate 2 for review, and I must admit, it’s rather buttery. I’d like to finish a large stack of the games sitting here, but that’s not happening yet…

Colette: I’ve played absolutely nothing this week except for a few rounds of the Galactrix PC demo. I can’t wait to plow sixty hours or more of my life into that game! CRACK ADDICTION GET!

Dale: Still rocking TrackMania DS, and still screaming at my DS because of it. I’m also enjoying late-night games of Mahjong Tales: Ancient Wisdom, and believe it or not, Iron Chef America for the Wii. BOAR! SWEET POTATO!

Jonathan H: I finally got four stars on the ski jump and the slalom games in Wii Fit, but I still can’t hula hoop for shit. My right hula is god damn near perfect, while my left hula is complete garbage. I have no idea why, but what matters is just trying figure this riddle out helped me lose a few pounds over the past two weeks.

Also played a few matches of SSF2TRemix with McVenegence on the PS3. It was good times. Besides that, it was Bonk 3, Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, Smash Bros Brawl, and the usual Animal Crossing routine.

Chad: Sadly, I have not played much at all this week except for the polarizing Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts and the incredible hidden gem M.U.S.H.A. for the Genesis. At times I love Nuts & Bolts and at times I want to throw the disc into the mouth of a hungry alligator. Anyone that has got to the stunt bike challenge in Banjo Land knows what I am talking about. WORST VEHICLE CONTROLS EVER!

Jonathan H: Crap! That’s right, I forgot about M.U.S.H.A.!

Buying it now.

Grim: Chad, the secret is to jump out of the vehicle and press B to edit it. Essentially, you can get rid of everything except for the seat, jet, gyroscope, and fuel which will allow you to pretty much just fly through the checkpoints easily; the key to Nuts & Bolts is to watch other people’s replays. I managed to find all of the Jiggies earlier this week, but I have also been playing some more Left 4 Dead for FNF and started up The Maw the other day.

Hamza: Puzzle Quest: Galactrix.

Jim: Most of my gaming has been for review purposes, and that means XNA chicanery. Groov, Galax-e-mail and Weapon of Choice have been my main source of gaming, with a little of the PSN’s Magic Ball on the side. As far as retail games go, I’m still fighting though Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Some of its combat areas are just horrible, but I’m still finding it fun enough. Also dabbled in LittleBigPlanet again, although I don’t find I can sit and play for a long time. I can’t believe my shitty LBP level actually has four stars though.

Oh, and Left 4 Dead. Mountains of it.

Conrad: I finally got around to finishing Grand Theft Auto IV, as I wanted to get Niko’s story wrapped up before the DLC hits. I really have to give credit to the guys at Rockstar for creating characters that resonated with me. Towards the end of the game, I found myself asking what certain people in Liberty City would think of the choices I was making, only to have Niko automatically call them as a scripted story event moments later. They got to me but good. Now, if only they had made the game more fun.

Also played a lot of Ninja Gaiden and I pulled out the Commodore 64 and spent some quality time that old friend. Oh, and The Maw, which is awesome.

Jonathan R: Once again, a bunch of L4D and TF2.  Threw some Aquaria into the mix, and got in a bit of Peggle Nights too.  I also spent a big chunk of time with the Puzzle Quest demo – I am so excited for that game to come out.

Fronz: I’m still playing Dota casually and loving it.

Samit: I’ve been making my way through my first playoffs in NHL 09 — last night, I eliminated the Atlanta Thrashers in the semifinals, four games to one, and now I’ll be taking on the Philadelphia Flyers in the Eastern Conference Finals. Bring it on, Gagne! I’ve been kicking ass, too — Samit Sarkar leads all players with 24 points in the playoffs so far (21 goals, 3 assists)!

Dyson: I have my hands on Tatsunoko vs Capcom and I intend to play it! Other than that all I played all week was some Street Fighter II on the only SF arcade unit within ten miles. It’s a piece of shit, but it’s the only game in town. I played against Seth K., and he used the right stick which doesn’t function if you press –> so half the time he can’t block. Mutherfucker still kicks my ass.

Jonathan H: Damn, for the first time ever, I’m annoyed that TvC doesn’t have online play.
