Does Battle Royale hold the key?

Epic Game’s developers of upcoming team-shooter Fortnite, have proudly announced that the base-building/arena hybrid has been played by seven million trigger-happy gamers.

The announcement is accompanied by the logo of the title’s recent Battle Royale mode update, but it is unclear whether this mode has specifically brought in the masses. Epic came under fire recently from developers Bluehole Inc, claiming that the former had ripped off the successful idea from their PC shooter PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

Epic have also released details of Fortnite’s latest update, which will see supply drops return to the game, minus their former technical issues. There is also a new mode, “Duos”, which will allow two players to tag up and take on the world, like Bimmy and Jimmy.

Fortnite is currently in Early Access and will be officially released in 2018.
