Five new Kinectimals plush pals on store shelves now

There’s playing with virtual animals and then there’s playing with virtual animals using stuffed animals. If you want to go all the way with this stuff you’ll need one of the Kinectimals plush pals. Lucky for you, five new plushies are hitting shelves now.

These plush pals are scannable by the Xbox 360 Kinect interface. The game “sees” your plushie and unlocks in-game characters to match, including the White Tiger, African Lion, Asian Cheetah, Bornean Clouded Leopard and Iberian Lynx. Meow.

Retailers like Toys ‘R Us should have these plush pals on shelves now, priced at about $11.99. Target will begin stocking them next month.

Microsoft says that these five are only the beginning. Four more waves of pals will be launching later this year and will include rare felines like the Canadian Lynx and Jaguarundi.

I love the idea of plushies that jump into your game, but — and it might just be me — aren’t their eyes a little creepy?
