First-ever nationwide Wii game tournament this summer

July 16th kicks off Nintendo’s first-ever nationwide Wii videogame tournament. The main kick-off ceremony will take place at Liberty State Park in Jersey City at 11 a.m. Olympic gold medalist and Dancing with the Stars star Shawn Johnson is the official Wii Games: Summer 2010 Ambassador, and she’ll be there to meet fans and make an appearance.

If you’re not there to get in on the opening ceremonies, you can kind of play along at all Six Flags theme park locations, where they’ll have demos and samples of games like Punch Out!! and Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Beyond that, subsequent events will be held at Six Flags theme parks and select shopping malls across the country.

Winners overall will win a trip to Los Angeles to compete in Wii Games: Summer 2010 nation championship in September. You’ll find the full rules and regulations at Nintendo’s website.
