Waiting for a Final Fantasy VII remake to happen is like someone wishing for a unicorn to drop down from the clouds and take them to campus on a dreary day. Even though unicorns are real — this according to the Wikipedia page I just edited — it isn’t likely that one will randomly care about human desire. Still we wish for both, and thus Yoshinori Kitase’s latest FFVII-related comment tickles the emotions. Speaking at gamescom, the FFXIII producer said FFVII news might come “at a later time.”
“As for a VII remake,” Kitase told VideoGamer, “all I can advise right now is to play the PSN release that just came out for the time being. Maybe, perhaps we’ll have some news for you at a later time.”
Kitase’s words lack a teasing feel, so we won’t be holding our breath. It seems like Square-Enix remains content to milk the benchmark title in a variety of ways, including bad movies and PSN Store ports.
