Famitsu confirms BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, new character

Holy Azure Grimore, Batman! After a confirmed new version of BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger was coming to Europe with new features and characters, Japanese and North American players were left wondering what exactly that meant. Was it DLC? Minor, non-game changing aesthetic changes? Something we would never end up seeing? Or a whole new repeat of Street Fighter II/Guilty Gear method of making minor updates and slapping a $60 price tag on a new version of the game. Well, for good or for bad, it looks like the latter, with Famitsu confirming BlazBlue: Continuum Shift.

So what do we get with this? According to fans over at the Dustloop forums (via Shin Oni), Arcade, PS3, and 360 versions are all confirmed, and we have new levels, new HUDs, and most importantly, Tsubaki is now a playable character. You remember her as a classmate to Carl, Noel and Jin, right? Anyway, she’s sporting some crazy new headgear and outfit, and is supposedly very beginner friendly, a-la Noel. Hopefully a few more are on their way.

Other supposed changes include nerfs for the top threet tiered characters (like the utterly broken V-13), as well as buffs to Carl. Rachel and Ragna are shown with some new moves and drives, and it looks like the over all feel is that is, yes, a championship edition. Testing is beginning in Japan this week, in Akihabara. Unfortunately, there are some clarity issues, as some are saying this version is not the one coming to Europe, however, we are in contact with Aksys to gain more information on the situation and will update when we find out.
