In case you haven’t heard, EVO just had its first Japanese competition earlier this year. It took place in January in Sunshine City and Akiba Square, and it was a monumental success with 5,000 registrants — given that most of the EVO US fighting games hail from Japan, it was only fitting that the region get their own tournament.

And given that very success it’s coming back in 2019. Now we have dates! Over the weekend the official EVO account tweeted out that it’ll be taking place in Fukuoka Japan from February 15-17, 2019. We’ll have to wait until the August US EVO event happens to get more info than that.

While 2018 was easily located in Tokyo, allowing outsiders to just fly into the two biggest airports and hop onto a train to get there, Fukuoka is on the complete other side of the continent on the west. The EVO account promises that “the new location & plans will be worth it,” which could very well be true if you’re viewing the event at home. If you’re planning on going, good luck!
