Epic’s head of marketing jumps ship to work on Halo

It kind of seems like everyone’s leaving Epic…

Kendall Boyd, the global marketing lead at Epic Games, has accepted a position with Microsoft to head-up the marketing for the Halo brand. Boyd had been with Epic since 2010.

Boyd’s departure has been affirmed by both Epic and Microsoft. A representative from Microsoft said “We can confirm that Kendall Boyd has joined Microsoft Studios as Director of Halo Global Marketing. We’re thrilled to welcome him into the Halo fold.” Likewise, Epic chimed in and commented “Yes, Kendall Boyd has left Epic Games to join our long-time partner Microsoft. We wish him well on his new adventure.”

Before his time at Epic, Boyd held marketing positions at EA Sports and the recently-defunct THQ. He has shipped more than 35 titles throughout the course of his career.

This marks the fourth notable example of key personnel departure from Epic Games in the past six months or so. Besides Boyd, President Mike Capps, Design Director Cliff Bleszinski, and Producer Rod Fergusson have all left the company.
