E3: Become a flying squirrel in New Super Mario Bros. U

Recommended Videos

Jonathan Holmes and Shannon from Nintendo are back for another two-part Wii U demonstration. This time, they’re playing New Super Mario Bros. U, and — I’ll admit it — the game looks considerably more fun than I expected it would. It’s that good ol’ Nintendo charm at work.

In this first video, we’re given a look at the “flying squirrel transformation” (it’s not a suit!) and the new cooperative functionality which allows a second player to interact with enemies and drop blocks into the level using the Wii U’s GamePad. Seems like a fantastic way to troll your friends.

In the second video, viewable below, we get to see tiny balloon Yoshi. Enough said.
