The Xbox 360 “Slim” was arguably the biggest news in an otherwise dreary Microsoft press conference. With the sleeker, smaller model comes a little bit of news about the aged, dusty, old Xboxes that nobody cares about anymore. According to Kotaku the Xbox 360 Arcade is dropping from $199.99 to $149.99 at Target, while the Elite will drop from $299.99 to $249.99.
This won’t last forever, however, as these archaic models won’t be reproduced once sold out. If you want an Xbox 360 Pro for two hundred bucks, you better act fast.
Speaking of obsolete hardware, the new Xbox 360 SKUs won’t come with a memory card slot. You remember the “USB storage solution” that came in an update recently? Yeah, apparently Microsoft did that entirely for the upcoming slim 360, as they knew they’d be phasing out memory cards. You’ll need a flash drive in order to save up to 16GB of info.
So there you go. A little insight into what’s happening with your 360 hardware. Oh, and you’ll be pleased to know that the Red Ring of Death isn’t a problem anymore, as there aren’t any red lights on this new model… clever girl!
