E3 10: A closer look at the final retail Kinect unit

Recommended Videos

Tonight at a surreal event at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, Microsoft unveiled the final design of the product-formerly-known-as-Project-Natal, Kinect.

What Microsoft ended up with is not all that different than what we had been seeing since its reveal at last year’s E3, a long, shiny black bar that sits on an adjustable base. In its press materials, Microsoft may have also revealed piece of an ad campaign that we’ll no doubt hear repeated dozens of times prior to its holiday launch:

No barriers.
No boundaries.
No gadgets.
No gizmos.
No learning curves.

You Kinect, you are the controller.

During the press conference, Microsoft showed showed off a number of games, many of which were already revealed by USA Today earlier today. With any luck, I’ll be getting my hands on (or… not, as the case seems to be) most of the titles tomorrow.

Stay tuned for full coverage, and more details on Kinect titles and the future of the Xbox 360 direct from Microsoft’s E3 press conference. We’ll be streaming it live on Destructoid, starting at 10am PDT; if you like seeing people waving their arms and legs around wildly, you won’t want to miss it.
