E3 09: Trinity: Souls of Zill O’ll is such an RPG Posted 13 years ago by Jim Sterling Omega Force has grown very comfortable in producing endless Dynasty Warriors games, but Koei’s internal studio is taking a new path with Trinity: Souls of Zill O’ll, a brand new RPG that’s exclusive to the PS3. There was no hands-on at E3, but we learned a lot more about the game, and have a sparkly trailer for you. It sparkles! The game’s premise revolves around a prophecy that potentiall suggests King Balor, your typical nefarious ruler of the land, as a man who will die at the hands of his own son. This ties into the fate of three adventurers — A warrior, a wizard and an assassin — who will have to dungeon crawl their way to victory and fulfil the predicted death of Balor. The game’s story is in a “non-linear format” and will be full of sidequests. It’s supposed to be atypical of your usual emo-themed JRPG, so that’s something to look forward to. As far as gameplay goes, you’ll be able to switch between your three characters and use a wide range of physical and magical attacks that can be used to create combos. Omega Force is also touting a “fully interactive environment,” full of destructible walls, flammable and freezable areas, and hidden paths. So far, so good. I love it when a team that’s become famous for one thing tries something different. This will be a welcome break from Dynasty Warriors, and I can’t wait to try it out.
