We were quite surprised to see the announcement of Final Fantasy XIV this morning during Sony’s E3 press conference. Now we have more details on the game and its launch, set to drop worldwide in 2010.

Final Fantasy XIV is a massively-multiplayer role-playing game where you’ll explore the vast realm of Eoreza. We have learned that this release will have language support for Japanese, English, French, and German, and will see a global launch on both the PS3 and Windows PCs.

We now know that the staff for their latest is made up of Final Fantasy veterans. Hiromichi Tanaka is the producer, and he previously worked on Final Fantasy I, II, III, and XI. The art direction comes from Akihiko Yoshida, who headed up the delicious Vagrant Story and Final Fantasy XII in the past. Finally, Nobuo Uematsu is back on board for the musical score.

This is already sounding like an epic MMO.
