Starting Hunt for the Jadeite Orb in Dragon’s Dogma 2

To start the Hunt for the Jadeite Orb quest, you need to go to Checkpoint Rest Town on the very west side of Vermund. To get there quicker, there is an Oxcart in the capital that will take you there. Once you’ve arrived, the quest will start when you walk by Offulve at the gate.

Going further into town down the main road, you’ll encounter Everand. They, too, want the orb. It would seem difficult to be able to satisfy both of these people, but there’s a way.

How to complete Hunt for the Jadeite Orb

Finding the Jadeite Orb isn’t actually difficult. While the characters suggest that you should talk to thieves or bandits to get its location, if you just check the shops in the area, it’s hard to miss. In Ibrahim’s Scrap Store. As you walk up to the counter, you’ll see the green Jadeite Orb just sitting there in the open.

Getting the orb isn’t difficult, either. It just costs 8000 G. I wasn’t able to locate a way to get it for free. In fact, depending on the outcome you want, you may be out of pocket on this quest.

So, I’ll tell you what I did. I bought the Jadeite Orb. Ibrahim has a unique service in that he will create counterfeits of items. In order to get a Jadeite Orb into the hands of both people seeking it, I ordered the creation of a fake orb at the price of 2000 G. This takes a while, so I had to then go and wait. I did the Prey for the Pack quest in the same town and still had a bit of time to burn, so I stayed at the inn.

Being a moral person, I then provided the fake orb to Everand. He then insisted we get it appraised to ensure it’s the real one. So, he takes it to Ibrahim to assess, then he walks off and says he’ll be back in a moment. At that point, you can start bribing Ibrahim. It starts at 1000 G, then you have to give 2000 G more, then 3000 G, before finally 6000 G. Eventually, he’ll relent and tell the returning Everand that it’s the real McCoy. Satisfied, he’ll thank you for your work and present you with 12000 G and a Ring of Skullduggery. So, that wasn’t very profitable.

I then took the real orb back to Offulve. He also thanked me, then gave 3000 G and an Elite Camping Kit before toddling off. I’m not sure how much the deluxe camping kit goes for on the market. It’s pretty useful, at least, but by my math, I’m out 7000 G on this quest.

The alternative here is to switch things around. If you give the real Jadeite Orb to Everand you’ll make more profit, and chances are Offulve won’t even check the authenticity. But since we’ve one save file, I can’t yet confirm this. It might be worth a try, though.
