Dragon Quest IV, V, VI are in the works for DS

The Nintendo DS is looking to be the system to have for fans of RPG upgrade/remakes. We already have the brilliantly retooled Final Fantasy III, and we know that Final Fantasy IV is getting a similar treatment, but now it looks like the other major franchise from Square Enix is getting some port action.

Nex first told us about the possiblity of new versions of older Dragon Quest classics. It looks like he was right, and we can expect to see Dragon Quest IV (originally released on Famicom), V, and VI (both originally on Super Famicom) getting the DS miniaturization treatment. Deeko happened upon JeuxFrance’s scans from Japanese publication Shonen Jump showing screenshots and information from the titles in development. Fans of portable classic roleplaying should be very pleased.

All we have are two magazine scans now, but I suspect that we’ll hear much more at the Tokyo Game Show. Stay tuned.
