Did You Know Gaming tackles Team Fortress 2

Dig deeper into Valve’s class-based online shooter

I’ve fallen off the Team Fortress 2 wagon in a big way; I used to play for at least 2-3 hours every day but the constant stream of updates and deluge of new items dulled my interest. Watching this latest episode of Did You Know Gaming on TF2 brought back some good memories and reminded me of the game’s long and protracted development phase.

Team Fortress 2 was worked on for eight years before being finally released; the first Team Fortress was a Quake mod that Valve snapped up and had re-released on its own Source engine. When TF2 was originally shown off it was clearly going for a realistic war shooter look which I’m glad never paned out. I much prefer the stylized silliness of the final product.

I should really try out TF2 one more time — maybe I’ll learn to love it again.
