Destructoid’s games of the week for 06/24/07: I’m hot edition!

Recommended Videos

It’s f**king hot.

For those of you who have never had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful Northwest, you may have visions of a place eternally clad in flannel, evergreen trees and grey skies. Oh, how I wish it were still so!

Apparently that global warming thing that Al Gore has his panties all in a bunch about has decided to attack me personally.

The current ambient temperature in Portland, Oregon is 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Mind you, it’s 3:04AM.

It was 105 degrees here earlier in the day.

I may not be a scientist, or even a college graduate, or even a person who can count properly without removing his shoes, but even I know that 105 is far too hot for humanity to properly survive. We’ll all end up in underground burrows fighting the Morlocks.

If only I had a giant penguin that I could slit open and crawl inside of …

These people played games. I’m too sticky to care. Maybe you do.

Leigh Alexander:
Actually, trying to beat the God Challenges in God of War, Odin Sphere, Puzzle Quest and (STILL) Twilight Princess when I can be bothered to sit down for a while (which is rarely). Also indie game Within a Deep Forest, and Snow Drop, a H-game.

Oh yeah, and we did just get RE4 for Wii, so we’ll probably play that all weekend.

Nex:
I finally broke down and, at the insistence of Mr. Linde, purchased Pac-Man Championship Edition. While I wish they would have let us play as Bison (or at least Vega) the inclusion of same-character versus matches is a huge draw.

Jim Sterling:
Very little, Mr. Mushnik. Mostly too busy with Gamers for Gaming (check it the bloody hell out, people), but I’ve naturally found time to squeeze a little action in. Been trying to do some Oblivion, though my Xbox worryingly was unable to read the disc like it had done with a now-unplayable N3. Aside from that, I’ve been playing through some Earth Defense Force 2017 which I’m now taking with me to Gamestation to see if they’ll take it back – DO NOT WANT.

Colette Bennett:
I have been playing Puzzle Quest for a record breaking 3 weeks straight. I need a new game. Also I think I need a life.

Topher Cantler:

I’ve been playing Art Department Organization Force 2007, Pac-Man CE, Business Card Maker 4, and Forza 2.

Grim:

As far as 360 gaming in concerned, I’ve been playing the usual Gears of War, Crackdown, and Pac-Man CE . All the talk about Resident Evil 4 (Wii edition) has made me pull out the old Gamecube for some fun times. Oh, and I finally got a chance to play Psychonauts earlier this week on PC.

Gameboi:
I’m still having fun with Legacy of Kain: Defiance, and I’ve dabbled a bit in Kingdom Hearts II, as well as Vectorman. I never tire of great games from the past.

I’m also suffering through a real life game called the water table is extremely low around here from a lack of rain, and spending too much time under the house priming a thirsty pump. Precious gaming money is about to slip from my grasp. Oh ye evil game of life! I rebuke you.

Nick Chester:

I’ve been out of town most of the week, so I’ve been mostly playing Planet Puzzle League, since they won’t let me take my Xbox 360 on planes.

David Houghton:
I’ve sadly had very little time for gaming this week with all the BBFC and Gamers For Gaimng stuff going on. I’ve put in a bit of time with Mario Strikers (Broken record, I know), Mario Kart DS and N, but that’s about it.

Dick McVengeance:
I’ve been playing little bits of Red Steel, and some Resident Evil 4 for the GameCube. Considering I own it, and haven’t beaten it yet, I see no urge to buy the Wii version, despite the leg-humpings of a Mr. Aaron Linde. Also, I’ve been playing a bunch of GURPS. I’ll give respect to anyone who knows what the hell that is.

Faith:
Still trying to finish Touch Detective but wednesday night my DS died 3 minutes after I turned it on at work. I forgot to charge it, so I spend an hour playing Block Breaker Deluxe on my cellphone. How boring.

I’m still playing Twilight Princess and I started playing Rayman Raving Rabbids. I finally got my bunnies. DAHHHHHHH! *runs by with plunger*

Aaron Linde:

I’m having a grand old time playing through Resident Evil 4 for the 9th or 10th time on my Wii — slaughtering villagers with well-timed headshots and grenades and such simply never gets old. I’m digesting the last few hours of Crush on the PSP and Shadowrun for forthcoming Destructoid reviews, and when that’s through, I’ve got a date with Baten Kaitos on the ‘Cube which I simply never got around to. That game is too damned pretty to be left unplayed.

Chad Concelmo:
I am hopelessly addicted to the awesomeness that is my new favorite game, Pac-Man Championship Edition. I also finally beat Rogue Galaxy (huzzah!) and am revisiting Super Mario 64 on the Virtual Console.

Dyson Grigsby:
I’ve been playing the fog is finally gone, so I can go outside again!, and Yes, I know about the RSS feed, stop asking. Between the time spent playing those two games, I’ve been playing a lot of Wii Sports and Super Paper Mario. I gave up on Odin Sphere, not because it wasn’t good, but because it got repetitive reeeal quick.

Rev Anthony:
I gave up on Odin Sphere as well, for the same reasons Dyson mentioned. Other than that, I’ve been playing a lot of Urban Dead, some of The Specialists, and I’m using the HL2 Zombie Master mod to pass the time until Left 4 Dead comes out. Speaking of which, when the hell is Left 4 Dead coming out?

What have you kids been playing this week? If any of you say “in the sprinkler”, I’m stabbing your face off.
