What is Weapon Level in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor?

In Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, your Weapon Level indicates how far you have progressed upgrades on a specific weapon. Every time you start a level, all of your weapons are reset to Level 1. Each weapon has its own unique Weapon Level as well as maximum Weapon Level. For example, the starting assault rifle, the Deepcore GK2, goes all the way up to Level 18.

Every weapon also has specific Level checkpoints in which you unlock a special bonus upgrade for the weapon, which is often quite strong. For the Deepcore GK2, these checkpoints are at Level 6, Level 12, and Level 18.

As you reach these Weapon Levels you will see another upgrade window pop up where you can choose how to upgrade your weapon. This is often much more damage, fire rate, or reload speed than a typical upgrade, or even more than one.

However, there are also various status effects you can add to your weapon at these checkpoints. For example, Cryo will change your weapon to deal frost damage that slows while electric will cause your bullets to spread bouncing electrical damage.

How can you increase Weapon Level?

When you gain enough XP and Level Up in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, you’re given the ability to choose from one of there upgrades. Some upgrades are simple one-offs such as increased run speed, increased max health, or increased XP gain. However, you can also choose to acquire specific weapon upgrades.

Choosing a weapon upgrade will advance the Weapon Level of the specific weapon that upgrade was for. In most cases, this is an upgrade one one level. However, upgrades like Paint Job will increase your Weapon Level by a whopping three for just one upgrade.

Unfortunately, Weapon Levels do not persist through death or in between attempts. So every new attempt all of your weapons will be starting at Weapon Level 1.
