Deathsmiles I & II bringing Goth Lolita shmup shenanigans to PC

Summer Shmuppin’

Fine news for shmup fans this Monday morning, as City Connection has announced that goth shooter double-pack Deathsmiles I & II will be seeing a PC port this coming summer. Originally developed by shmup masters Cave and fine-tuned by Zerodiv, the rerelease hit console platforms back in 2021.

Deathsmiles I & II, as the title suggests, bundles the original 2007 shmup and its great 2009 sequel, boosted with a fresh round of balance checks and bug tweaks, alongside new additions such as score attack leaderboards and a full training mode. The release also included support for multiple languages, making matters a little easier for import fans, and even featured crossover characters from Cave’s mobile release Gothic wa Mahou Otome.

Much like the console edition, fans can expect Deathsmiles I & II to contain the series’ three main releases: Deathsmiles, the enhanced Deathsmiles Mega Black Label, and the hilariously monikered Deathsmiles IIX Merry Christmas in Hell. So dig out your best frilly dress, pull on your white stockings, and polish up those two-sizes-too-big clompy shoes, as the mischievous maidens are preparing to take to the skies for one more round of bullet hell chaos.

Deathsmiles I & II will launch this summer on PC. It is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
