Darksiders 4 will finally answer fans’ burning questions, multiple characters confirmed

Its time to wage war.

In a move that caught the whole gaming community by surprise, THQ Nordic just announced Darksiders 4, the first new instalment in the franchise since 2019’s Darksiders Genesis and its first mainline one since Darksiders 3.

The announcement was made via the cinematic trailer below, which makes a direct callback to the final moments of Darksiders and confirms the game to be a direct sequel to the first’s unholy cliffhanger. According to THQ, the game is also set to be a third-person action-adventure, akin to all of the franchise’s numbered titles.

The title’s official description has also confirmed that players will be able to play as all four horsemen—War, Death, Fury, and Strife—in Darksiders 4, with each featuring exclusive weapons and styles.

It remains unknown whether this will be possible through separate campaigns or character switching. I, however, would not be surprised by the latter, as, according to its Steam page, the game is set to support online co-op.

When will Darksiders 4 be released?

Although a release date for the title has not been given, it would not be a stretch to expect Darksiders 4 to be released either in the second half of 2026 or in early 2027. Apart from the PC version, the game will also be available on both Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. You can check out more about Darksiders 4 by heading to the game’s official site, as well as wishlist it right now on Steam.

If you want to start getting ready or, like me, are currently fighting an urge to replay the franchise from the start, you can currently play all of the Darksiders games on both consoles (Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series) and PC.
