CONTROL Resonant is pretty stellar on its own, but the game will get even better in the next couple of months. Remedy is adding the coveted Photo Mode in November, plus adding a “New Game ++” next month, the studio announced today.

CONTROL Resonant has some of the most breathtaking environments in Remedy history, with altered Manhattan and the Unknown Zone being particularly scenic. Though the game released recently, fans are already vehemently asking for a Photo Mode, and the developer listened.

“The Photo Mode for CONTROL Resonant is something we’ve been cooking for a while,” Remedy said in a blog post today. “We even consulted some talented virtual photographers from the community to help us make it the best it can be.”

Despite being a beloved feature from the first CONTROL, Photo Mode wasn’t available in Resonant at launch “because we needed to prioritize making sure the game was in the best possible shape,” the post adds, but the feature is scheduled for “sometime in November.”

In the meantime, players can get a faux Photo Mode by getting Dylan to face a wall and rotating the camera around him. Done from the right angle, he disappears from the frame, but this is an imperfect solution that doesn’t work everywhere.

Though highly anticipated, the addition of Photo Mode isn’t entirely surprising for the community. CONTROL also added the feature after launch, and given how much work Remedy poured into the environments in the sequel, allowing fans to screenshot to their heart’s content is a natural choice.

Before Photo Mode hits, Remedy is also making a big improvement to the New Game Plus experience by letting you replay it as often as you like. As it stands, you only get the first playthrough and an encore, after which you’re stuck with the large (but finite) amount of side quests and secrets.

With the new addition, however, you can run as many subsequent playthroughs as you want, offering you more ways to progress through the game’s multiple zones. You also get the chance to revisit the main story and side quests, opting for different dialogue if you missed it the first time around. Those parallel stories often have multiple endings, so you may want to replay them more than once or twice. “New Game ++” is scheduled to launch in October.

CONTROL Resonant shot up to the top of Steam’s best-selling list when it released yesterday, marking another successful entry into the Remedyverse. We gave it a valiant nine out of 10 for its fluid combat, stunning environments, and delightful exploration, which are bound to become even better after the studio adds these two features.
