Let’s find out how the recruitment system works in this year’s game and how you can ace it.

How does College Football 27’s recruitment work

Once you head to the Recruiting section, you’ll find plenty of tabs. The objective is to use your resources to scout talents. You’ll always want to prioritize areas where your roster has a shortage of quality athletes.

Every athlete has plenty of attributes, and here are some of the key ones (irrespective of their preferred position).

  • Rank: Prospective Rank in the recruiting class (relative to that class).
  • Need: Determines if the athlete fills in a position where you’re short.
  • Rating: A system of star ratings that ranges between one and five stars.
  • INT: An athlete’s potential interest and how likely they are to join your team.
  • Stage: Shows how much progress you have made towards recruiting the athlete.

How to recruit in College Football 27

We begin by going to the Recruiting section from the home page in the Dynasty Mode. First, choose “Add Prospect” to begin the process. However, always check Team Needs first, since it’s important to fill the chinks in your armor first.

I always like to check names from the Recommended list. You can also go through the prospects as per their star ratings and other available parameters. According to my Team Needs, I will need more WR and general improvement in defense. Hence, I will prioritize those areas.

Once you have selected the athletes, return to the Recruiting Board. What was empty once will now look filled like the image above. Any athlete you add from the Prospect List will be added to this section. Athletes with Open status means that they’re ready to join. Pay attention to how interested they’re to join your school.

For the demo, I have selected Gideon Kongbo I am already on top of his interest list, and he fills a position with need in my roster.

First, spend Scouting Hours to learn more about his attributes. You can also get to know about his Abilities and Mentals by scouting him; always scout before recruiting an athlete.

Exit recruitment and proceed to the next week. Now begins the real challenge as you try to bring an upcoming superstar to your team. Select an athlete, and switch to the Recruiting tab. First, offer him the scholarship.

You can always spend Dynasty Points to raise his interest. The required Dynasty Points will differ across athletes, as some of them will need higher investments.

To make your case stronger, you can perform additional actions to raise his interest. Since different actions have different costs, you should balance your activity. Sending the House, for example, is great, but it also costs 50 Hours. There’s an overall limit, so don’t go all in at the get go.

Once you’re happy with your actions/out of Recruitment Hours, proceed to the next week. The aim is to be on the top of an athlete’s interest list. If you’re on top, try to invest more into him to help him quicken his decision. You can also choose to stay passive and see if his interest is dwindling.

Occasionally, they will commit to you if the other schools don’t show much interest. In the image above, you can see that Kongbo is already more drawn towards my team, while the rest of the schools haven’t made any progress.

If you’re in the Top 5 list of a player, you can also schedule a visit (if the option is open). That will make it easier for you to persuade him to accept your offer.

Hard Commit in CFB 27

This year, there are two types of commitments: Verbal and Hard. A Verbal commitment means that the athlete has a deal with you in principle. However, he is still open to switch to another school if it comes in with a better offer.

A Hard commitment simply means that the athlete has fixed his decision to join your school. He can’t be stolen by any other school.

Finally, always pay attention to Dealbreakers. Typically, a Dealbreaker is like a veto power for an athlete. If your school’s grade for a Dealbreaker is below that of an athlete, he will never sign for you. There’s no way to bypass a Dealbreaker, and you could end up missing out on few potential superstar talent in the process.
