Come watch Nintendo’s 2019 E3 Direct press conference with us

Steve for Smash?

Nintendo is going to close out this year’s E3 festivities (at least as far as major press conferences are concerned) once again.

What will we see? Well there’s a gigantic list of hard-hitting first party games on the docket (Luigi’s Mansion 3, Animal Crossing 2019, Astral Chain, Link’s Awakening, SMTV), and Pokemon Sword & Shield has seemingly been tagged out in favor of its own Direct presentation last week. That means 15 more minutes are being dedicated to something else.

There’s a lot of other exciting story threads at play here. Is Nintendo really done with the 3DS? Although they said definitively that they are not announcing more Switch hardware during E3 this year (and thus no “Switch-Lite” just yet, a potential portable-only iteration that would render the 3DS obsolete), we could see the system just completely die out as early as this year.

Also, Smash! Smash typically lights up E3 and Nintendo has spent heaps of time on the franchise in the past. They could blow us away by revealing just one more Fighter’s Pass DLC addition, or really go for gold by announcing multiple, or the entire docket. Imagine how crazy the internet would get if Nintendo gave us Geno from Mario RPG, Erdrick from Dragon Quest, and Steve from Minecraft (I know a lot of you are rolling your eyes, but he’d bring in new players).

We’ll see soon enough, as we’ll be covering all of the news right here when Nintendo revs up at 9AM PT (12PM ET) this morning.
