CES: Windows to get Kinect on February 1

Recommended Videos

Microsoft announced at its CES 2012 press conference that Kinect is coming to Windows on Wednesday, February 1. Personally, getting Ryan Seacrest to co-host and bringing out a Tweet choir were more shocking moments, but I’ll take it.

It was revealed this evening that 18 million Kinect sensors have been shipped so far. With such a huge customer base, you can forgive many of us for expecting more from the software. Opening the technology to Windows should help on that front.

Microsoft didn’t mention whether or not our current Xbox 360 Kinects would be interchangeable with the new Windows ones. If that isn’t the case, this pricing had better not be final.
