Castaway Paradise is the iPad’s answer to Animal Crossing

iPad gamers, you might want to check this one out

I took one look at Castaway Paradise and I knew it would be perfect for me. Lately all I seem to want to do is live vicariously through my digital avatars across different platforms. The colorful atmosphere of Castaway Paradise and obvious homage to Animal Crossing has landed it on my shortlist of “must play” games, and I surmise some of you may end up feeling the same way.

The villagers may not be animals, but it certainly looks like you interact with them in much of the same manner as you would with your friends in Animal Crossing. And in the free-to-play iPad game, you’ll cultivate crops, go fishing, collect bugs, and do favors for your neighbors. So it’s certainly ripping off Animal Crossing, but doing it in such a charming manner that you can’t help but want to give it a try.

Stolen Couch Games’ simulator has been around on the App Store for a bit now, having just been soft launched in Canada, Australia, and Vietnam, with a UK date on the “to be announced” list. Have you played Castaway Paradise? What do you think?
