Can you respec skills in Starfield?

So, you put some points into Botany in your Starfield skill board and now you’re feeling buyer’s remorse. If you had those points, maybe you could spend them on something a bit more useful. Something like boxing (actually, no). Since it takes quite some time to level up in Starfield, you may wonder if you can respec those skills you brazenly spent.

As it is with some RPGs, respeccing is allowed and part of the learning process. Diablo IV, for example, lets you refund every spent point so you can experiment and change up your Sorcerer build to suit a new piece of gear or satisfy some flight of fancy. Starfield is also an RPG in which you spend much of your time in space and loading screens. But does it also let you change up your character’s skills?

Sadly, there is no simple way to undo what you did to your poor space adventurer. Once you spend a skill point, you’re locked into your choice. Of course, burning only one skill point isn’t the end of the universe. You can course correct and spend points on skills that help you with activities you enjoy. For example, you may want to pick more locks, so Lockpicking is a clear answer. As you get more powerful weapons, you should definitely start spending points in Weapon Engineering.

Is there a way to remove and add skill points with the command console?

Okay, there is a way you can respec your character’s skills in Starfield, but it takes a bit of know-how. You can remove and add perks via the command console, though you give up your ability to earn achievements.
