Call of Duty: Ghosts sold over 200,000 units in Japan during its first week on the market, according to sales tracking authority Media Create. The PlayStation 3 version of Activision’s first-person shooter charted at number two overall on the nation’s weekly software charts with 190,631 sales. The Xbox 360 release came in at number 13 overall, moving a mere 12,950 units over the same period.

Battlefield 4 launched in Japan one week earlier and topped charts with a combined 133,000 copies sold, the vast majority of which also came on PlayStation 3. This time around EA’s shooter ranked tenth with 19,291 sales.

While Ghosts managed to best its main competitor’s debut figures, it was Namco Bandai’s God Eater 2 that reigned supreme in Japan last week. The portable Monster Hunter-like experience shifted 266,326 copies on PlayStation Vita plus an additional 112,024 copies on PSP, thereby amassing a total near the 380,000 mark.
