Today, EA announced a substantial special edition of Burnout Paradise called the Ultimate Box. The set will consist the game, all of the recent DLC offerings, some gameplay tweaks, an enhanced PlayStation Network interface, and a brand new mode called Burnout Paradise Party. Soft drinks, friends, and aspirations of wrecking cars as a profession are not included.

The new Party mode is strictly an offline affair, designed to entertain in quick spurts. The mode is designed around the idea of players passing a singular controller around the room while competing in several “quick-fire” challenges in stunt, speed, and skill events.

In addition to the mode, players will also enjoy the restart race option finally added to the game as well as enhanced vehicle handling. Also included is a network feature exclusive to the PlayStation 3 called the Burnout Paradise Network. It’s essentially an enhanced PSN construct available in game that will allow players to look each other up quicker both in the game and out.

If you jumped on the digital download bandwagon, don’t fear. The party mode will be available separately, although for the first time, it will come at a price. What that price will be is unknown, but the set itself will be available February next year.
