Or maybe Falcor from the Neverending Story
Mobile gaming has no shortage of endless runners these days, so it takes something special to get people to notice. One way Sunbreak Games creative director Jason Behr goes about it is by name-dropping the high-profile titles he has worked on in the past: Metroid Prime and Halo 4. However, the immediately striking element of the Kickstarter game Buddy & Me is probably the whimsical character art against the beautifully painted backgrounds.
The other more meaningful bit is the game’s focus on the relationship between the unnamed protagonist and his magical friend Buddy. Buddy embodies the theme of companionship, and can aid the boy in his endless running treetop quest to pick up stars.
Unfortunately for my Android brethren out there, the team is currently focused on bringing this to iOS, with an Android version set as one of the early stretch goals.
