Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s stellar run of Zombies maps is coming to an end with season five, Activision and Treyarch confirmed today.

Season five of BO7 launches next week with new content for Zombies, multiplayer, and Endgame, but the final map is launching as part of the Season Five Reloaded update sometime in August, including the final battle: Rex Infernus.

“The final fight is almost here, Treyarch teased. “Make your last stand count.”

“The Warden’s corruption runs deep in the final chapter of the Black Ops 7 Zombies narrative as an all-new Round-Based Zombies map launches in the mid-season update,” Treyarch said. “Cleanse the Shadowsmiths’ places of power and arm yourself with a new Wonder Weapon, GobbleGum, Perk-a-Cola, and two more Ultra-Rarity legacy weapons to survive the ultimate confrontation.”

The BO7 Zombies narrative and playable locations have been a hit with even the most jaded players, especially last month’s stellar round-based map Kowakujō. That map is getting Directed Mode in season five, along with a new Survival map Eidskallen Lighthouse, and various other modes and quality-of-life changes.

Season five also adds a variety of new weapons like the FG42 assault rifle, Gremlin SMG, Mammoth LMG, Mace melee weapon, and more, winding down the last few large content updates in BO7 before Modern Warfare 4 drops in October.

A lot of CoD players have been flocking to the PS5 and PS4 ports of Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2, but Zombies players still have at least one more fight in them. And it seems like BO7 has an additional season left, too, with season six likely coming out some time in September before attention turns fully to MW4.

BO7 season five drops on July 23, and Modern Warfare 4 will be playable at Fanatics Fest this week in New York City. It’s expected that the upcoming game’s beta dates will be announced some time soon.
