Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ offers several traits to equip on your operator, and it will pay to be selective here. While there are over 50 different traits, you can have at most 18 of them spread across three different trees.

In this guide, I will help you figure out the best choices.

Best traits to equip in Modern Warfare 4

All 66 Operator Traits are spread across three different trees: Warfighter, Scout, and Survivalist. Each tree has six Major Traits and 16 Minors. Major Traits are always visible, but Minor ones will be randomized. To reveal a Minor Trait, you’ll need to unlock the previous Major option on its path.

The table below has the best recommendations in my books. I have prioritized Scout heavily since it enables you to be much better at looting and gathering intelligence.

TraitCategoryReason
Container LootScoutLoot is the King in DMZ: the more you have, the better it gets. With Container Looter, you have the chance to get one extra piece of loot every time you take a container. It’s not a guaranteed bonus that will work all the time, but when it does, it will feel wonderful and vastly improve your loadout. This is one of the earliest trades you should invest in if you’re planning to get rich in DMZ.
OverwatchScoutThis is slightly more of an advanced choice, but having Overwatch helps increase your chances of success. When you have Overwatch, the UAV towers you activate will never expire. They will always remain functional as long as you have activated them in the first place. This persistent activation plays a key role eventually.
Field CraftingScoutJust like in Ark Raiders, I prefer having the ability to craft something on the run. With field crafting, you can directly craft something out of common printer resources during a live run.
UAV UpgradeScoutAnother one that’s related to Overwatch: you get to improve the range and duration of your UAVs, which means they remain active for a longer time. The upgrade also improves your basic UAVs to advanced UAVs, making them a lot more precise.
Quick FixWarfighterIf you’re someone who loves to engage in fights, Quick Fix will be a great choice. It reduces the health generation delay when you manage to kill a hostile or operator, allowing you to recover quicker and engage in more fights.
PossumWarfighterIt allows you to carry a self-revive into Last Stand when you die. Doing this restores your health to maximum, and you can activate it once during a match. Since it can completely repel death, it’s a great choice.
Consumable DurationSurvivalistConsumables will play a key role in determining your chances of success when fighting an enemy. With this trait, all your consumables will be active for a longer period of time.
Numb the PainSurvivalistThis one is immensely useful if you’re playing in a team. It automatically applies painkiller and smelling salt effects whenever someone revives, allowing them to heal quickly. This creates a massive difference when you are engaging in team fights.

These are my choices based on very early experience with the DMZ mode. Over time, the experience might change, and so will my choices. Expect to see a few upgrades based on how the meta shifts in the early days.
