The Dynasty Mode in College Football 27 can be quite challenging if you pick the right school. Not every squad is stacked with talented prospects, and the one-star rated programs have plenty of weaknesses.

Best one-star schools to use in College Football 27 Dynasty Mode

The table below has list of my favorite recommendations when it comes to one-star rated schools. A fair warning: these are all long-term projects, and you’ll need to ace every aspect of the program by yourself to get the best possible results.

I have also included schools rated at half star (if you want to go for an even bigger challenge).

SchoolRating (Stars)OVR/OFF/DEFReason
UL Monroe062/61/64A program rated at zero is shocking, but that’s the degree of our challenge. Incidentally, the program has one of the fastest athletes in the game.
If the ratings are indicative enough, you will inherit a poor team. With just seven draft picks and a terrible 2025 record, there’s plenty of room for improvement.
Southern Miss Golden Eagles0.569/69/69A squad rating of almost 70 isn’t bad for this category. The school has 116 NFL Draft Picks until now, which isn’t shabby either.
However, The school grades are terrible, with F in five categories (the best being C).
This is one of those projects where the real problem is with the quality of the program.
Umass Minutemen0.566/66/66You’ll be inheriting a school that has a 2025 record of 0-12 (Yes, no wins, and 12 losses).
FLA Atlantic Owls172/71/74With just 8 drafts in the NFL, the Atlantic Owls doesn’t have a rich history. The squad is pretty average, and the only reasonable grade goes to Campus Lifestyle. Whether you can utilize that to attract new talents remains to be seen.
Carolina Chanticleers166/66/66The squad is one of the lowest-rated lineup, and there’s not much to talk about. However, the grades are average (could be way worse), which does leave you with some room for negotiation.
Liberty Flames172/74/71For a one-star rated program, the lineup isn’t too bad. However, the grades let the program down. Double F in Academic Prestige and Brand Exposure will make this a nightmare for recruitment.
Kennesaw St. Owls166/64/69For a one-star rated program, there are plenty of problems to fix. The squad is poor to begin with. F grades in Athletic Facilities and Academic Prestige means that most top-tier prospects will turn you down. Bringing this school to the top will be a real challenge.
SAC State Hornets171/71/71The Hornets offer you a clean state with a 0-0 record in 2025. The grades aren’t too bad, with B- in Coach Stability offering you a long rope. However, you’ll still need to recruit hard and play harder to leave a mark

There goes my best recommendations from the weakest-rated squads. I have avoided teams rated 1.5 stars because there are plenty of alternatives that are way more difficult to manage.

If you want to try something fun instead of going with the official lineup, you can always use the Team Builder to try to play with fantasy creations.
