Best Grand Theft Auto cheats in the series

There's no honor among grand thieves

Grand Theft Auto (the game) is fun as is, but a series about breaking the law naturally only gets better when you also break its own rules. The developers probably knew about this, and that’s why they’ve always filled every Grand Theft Auto with some of the best cheats in the history of video games.

Cheat codes in video games feel almost like a product of a bygone era, but that was one hell of an era, so let’s reminisce about some of the most hilarious cheats in this cheat-prone franchise.

Super Punch (GTA San Andreas)

I love that San Andreas allows players to go to the gym to get CJ all buff, but, just like in real life, no exercise will make you stronger than dangerous and illegal shenanigans. The best way to Hulk it up in Grand Thefto Auto: San Andreas is via the Super Punch cheat code, something that will allow you to send anyone you punch to immediately fly toward their death.

How to get it:

PlayStation: UP, LEFT, X, TRIANGLE, R1, CIRCLE, CIRCLE, CIRCLE, L2
PC: STINGLIKEABEE
Switch: UP, LEFT, B, X, R, Y, Y, Y, ZL
Xbox: UP, LEFT, A, Y, RB, B, B, B, LT

Explosive Punch (GTA V)

What? Being a literal One Punch Man isn’t enough for you? Do you need fireworks? Ok, big shot. You’ll be happy to know that GTAV upgraded the super strength cheat and seemingly retrofitted the knuckles on the playable characters in GTAV with dynamite. The increase in strength is the same, but now you get to kill anyone dumb enough to stay in the vicinity of your megaton punch.

How to get it:

PS4 / PS5: RIGHT, LEFT, X, TRIANGLE, R1, CIRCLE, CIRCLE, CIRCLE, L2
Xbox One / Xbox Series X: RIGHT, LEFT, A, Y, RB, B, B, B, LT
PC: HOTHANDS

Explosive rounds (GTA V)

Oh, you prefer to state your supremacy from afar? Then you should activate the explosive rounds cheat. One bullet from the most measly of pistols is enough to blow up any regular car in the game. I’ll let you imagine what you can do with an automatic weapon.

How to get it:

PS4 / PS5: RIGHT, SQUARE, X, LEFT, R1, R2, LEFT, RIGHT, RIGHT, L1, L1, L1
Xbox One / Xbox Series X: RIGHT, X, A, LEFT, RB, RT, LEFT, RIGHT, RIGHT, LB, LB, LB
PC: HIGHEX

Drunk Mode (GTA V)

Remember that awesome mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 where you get drunk? Well, that can be your entire life in GTAV. Just activate the drunk mode cheat and completely lose control over your character and your own body as you’ll have a hard time not laughing at the result.

How to get it:

PS4 / PS5: TRIANGLE, RIGHT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, SQUARE, CIRCLE, LEFT
Xbox One / Xbox Series X: Y, RIGHT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, X, B, LEFT
PC: LIQUOR

Super Jump (GTA V)

Did your memories of playing Super Mario ever make you feel bad for not being able to jump like an elk in GTA games? Then the super jump code is for you! It doesn’t require much explaining as yeah, it just makes your character jump really high. Trust me, though — it’s damn fun.

Also, no more getting run over for you!

How to get it:

PS4 / PS5: LEFT, LEFT, TRIANGLE, TRIANGLE, RIGHT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, SQUARE, R1, R2
Xbox One / Xbox Series: LEFT, LEFT, Y, Y, RIGHT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, X, RB, RT
PC: HOPTOIT

Moon Gravity (GTA V)

Reducing the gravity in GTA is great because it allows you to basically swim in the air as if you’re on a Counter-Strike community map. Also, it’s not just you, it’s the entire city that gets affected. Driving in low gravity is a completely new thing. The only thing that stands behind you and turning your car into a plane is finding a decent enough ramp.

Combine the super jump cheats with the low gravity one for maximum hilarity.

How to get it:

PS4 / PS5: LEFT, LEFT, L1, R1, L1, RIGHT, LEFT, L1, LEFT
Xbox One / Xbox
Series: LEFT, LEFT, LB, RB, LB, RIGHT, LEFT, LB, LEFT
PC: FLOATER

Flying Cars (GTA San Andreas)

GTA games already give you the feeling that you can do anything, but gravity is still there — even with the low gravity cheat activated.

You can fly a plane, sure, but you can never fly a car during a regular playthrough, and players have been wanting that ever since the ‘90s when Hollywood told them that they’d have flying cars by the ‘00s.

Flying a car while listening to “Free Bird” feels like unlocking a whole new dimension.

How to get it:

PlayStation: L1, L2, R1, R2, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, L1, L2, R1, R2, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT
Xbox: Y, DOWN, L, UP, ZL, A, UP, B, LEFT
Switch: Y, DOWN, ZL, UP, L, A, UP, B, LEFT
PC: CHITTYCHITTYBANGBANG

Skyfall (GTA V)

James Bond fans be warned, this has nothing to do with the hit film from 2012. This is a cheat that teleports your character up to the clouds and then just drops you from there. It’s a lot of fun, but also deadly if you don’t land on a body of water or learn how to survive the fall. Yes, surviving the fall is possible, and you can try mastering death as many times as you need!

How to get it:

PS4 / PS5: L1, L2, R1, R2, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, L1, L2, R1, R2, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT
Xbox One / Xbox Series X|S: LB, LT, RB, RT, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, LB, LT, RB, RT, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT
PC: SKYFALL

Chaos Mode (GTA San Andreas)

Do you think the streets of San Andreas aren’t wild enough? Then perhaps it’s time to activate the Chaos Mode, which will immediately send the entire city into the most ill-organized civil war scenario you can imagine.

Feel free to enjoy this cheat as much as you’d like, but remember not to save, as not even your death will stop the frenzy you’ve unleashed upon the streets.

How to get it:

PlayStation: L2, RIGHT, L1, TRIANGLE, RIGHT, RIGHT, R1, L1, RIGHT, L1, L1, L1
PC: STATEOFEMERGENCY
Switch: ZL, RIGHT, L, X, RIGHT, RIGHT, R, L, RIGHT, L, L, L
Xbox: LT, RIGHT, LB, TRIANGLE, RIGHT, RIGHT, RB, LB, RIGHT, LB, LB, LB

Funhouse mode (GTA San Andreas)

The funhouse mode cheat turns every NPC in San Andreas into a food service worker, which, in the wild world of San Andreas, means that they’ll be dressed as clowns. This one goes great when paired with the chaos mode above, for reasons that I probably don’t have to explain.

How to get it:

PlayStation: TRIANGLE, TRIANGLE, L1, SQUARE, SQUARE, CIRCLE, SQUARE, DOWN, CIRCLE
PC: CRAZYTOWN
Switch: X, X, L, Y, Y, A, Y, DOWN, A
Xbox: Y, Y, LB, X, X, B, X, DOWN, B
