Bayonetta Wii U-specific outfits empower Bowser kicks and visor flips

Sequel pack-in bonuses add extra flair

Bayonetta 2 is almost here, and from everything I’ve played, it seems to be a more consistently exuberantgame than the original. While the first game frequently toggled between serious face grim-darkness and light-hearted whimsy, the sequel yanks reality off the hinges from the start and dives face first into a magical, fabulous world.

Wii U owners will be able to make that comparison for themselves soon enough, as both games are being packaged together for release on the console later this year. On top of that, the team from Platinum have added quite a few new Nintendo-specific pieces of flair to Bayonetta 1. When dressed as Peach, Bayonetta can summon Bowser’s fists and feet to topple enemies, use the Master Sword as Link (complete with A Link to the Past sound effects), and flip her visor up and down during cut scenes as Samus.

Like with The Wonderful 101, Nintendo is taking a pretty big chance on publishing these titles from Platinum. I hope that enough consumers are willing to break from their comfort zones and give these excellent games a chance.
