We interrupt your normally scheduled Art Attack Friday to bring you a very special edition of the show! Out of Controller (clever name!) is a videogame themed art exhibit that was recently held in Melbourne, Australia. The exhibit was a competition among artists to make the best Nintendo themed artwork using any type of media they preferred.

The show wrapped up recently and the grand prizewinner was a Jerry Springer meets Mario mashup Flash movie which, compared to some of the other submissions, shouldn’t have won. There are few exceptional pieces in the collection like the piece above that should have taken first place.

Some of the pieces were custom made figures like a Legend of Zelda plushy, a 3D sculpture of Nintendo characters playing a Nintendo DS and a real (fake) Piranha Plant. Check out the gallery below for some of the better submissions and then head over to Out of Controller for the full gallery.
