ARC Raiders really is slowing down to a halt, as it’s not been confirmed that Expeditions, a great endgame way for players to reset progress and give themselves goodies and reasons to play it all over again, won’t be happening again this year after the fifth one concludes.

This was confirmed by Embark Studios in a new post detailing the fifth Expedition. This time around, players will have three weeks between Sept. 8 and Sept. 29 to complete their Caravans, though now without a last call going out telling people to sign up.

As opposed to previous Expeditions, the 5th one won’t require players to reset their quests if they don’t want to, so no more looting the Hydroponic Dome Complex a dozen times before your necessary items drop. Hullcracker blueprints, obtainable only via quests, will be given out to players in different ways, probably through new challenges down the line.

As mentioned, there is no last call telling you to sign up, so make sure you keep an eye on the Expedition and its dates so you don’t miss out.

Speaking of missing out, this will be the last Expedition this year, and the next one won’t be happening before 2027. This means that players will get to play another full three months, i.e., in October, November, and December, at least, before they’ll get a shot at another Expedition. That’s honestly tough, especially considering how little content is actually coming to the game outside that singular supposedly big update in October.

There is going to be five months between two major patches for ARC Raiders, and this content drought, combined with reports of rampant cheating and matchmaking issues, has sent the game into “mixed” reviews on Steam for the first time since launch. It’s also lost around 95 percent of its peak player base.

With not a lot of endgame content to speak of outside of Expeditions, it’s honestly understandable, and since there’s guaranteed to be at least one more drought between the two, I can’t see how things are going to improve, honestly.

I hope the patch coming out later this year more than makes up for this big gap between Expeditions, as sitting with your arms crossed waiting for something to happen is really, really not fun.
