Apple has “rebalanced” international pricing on the App Store, giving Australian customers a price hike while raising prices for United Kingdom residents.
The changes come as a result of shifting exchange rates relative to the US dollar. So, that one Destructoid commenter who blames everything on Obama has something to rage about.
The cheapest UK price used to be 59p, but has seen a ten pense increase to 69p. Games previously priced as £1.19 now cost £1.49. Meanwhile, the lowest Australian price has gone from $1.19 AU to 99¢. Even Japan’s gotten a break, reports Japanator, with its lowest amount going from ¥115 to ¥85.
If you’re annoyed about that, my British friends, then prepare yourself for this — there’s a rumor that these changes could extend to hardware as well, so that the next gadget issued by Apple could become more expensive. Because, really, Apple products aren’t expensive enough, right?
