Trophies. Achievements. Who needs em? I do. I need them. When games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 come along and trap me in their web, I’m only further incentivized to keep playing until I’ve completed an arbitrary list of objectives.

Collecting Trophies can range in difficulty from “I’ve beaten the tutorial,” to “Beat the Vulture using only a water pistol.” Spider-Man 2‘s skew more toward the former as many will be completed passively while playing the game. Even those that require Peter and Miles to go out of their way are little more than visiting specific points of interest.
