All Pokémon Go Sizable Surprises research tasks

This Sizable Surprises limited-time event in Pokémon Go is all about the smallest and largest Pokémon in the series. As such, the research tasks and challenges players can tackle during this short event are themed around exactly this. There are five research tasks in total for players to do during this time period, each coming with their own unique reward or Pokémon encounter:

  • Catch 5 Pokémon: Receive a Cutiefly or Tynamo encounter in-game
  • Catch 20 Pokémon: Receive an Onix or Snorlax encounter
  • Catch 3 Wailmer: Receive yet another Wailmer encounter
  • Catch 3 Wimpod: Receive yet another Wimpod encounter
  • Complete a raid: Receive a Rare Candy

Catching Pokémon is pretty simple enough in this game, as they will often appear around you. However, the only tasks that may trip up some players is catching Wailmers and Wimpods. They appear more often during this event, but you may want to use a lure to draw them out more. And if you’re looking for a shiny version of Wailmer or Wimpod, the encounter you get with them as a reward can have much higher shiny chances than normal ones.

In addition to the research tasks during the Pokémon Go Sizable Surprises event, there are two new sets of limited-time challenges as well. These are themed around the huge and small Pokémon in the mobile game, starting with the Giant Gems. These challenges task players with collecting five different large Pokémon during the event, with a special reward awaiting them at the end:

  • Catch 1 Wailmer in the wild
  • Catch Mantine
  • Catch Cetoddle
  • Catch Onix
  • Catch Snorlax

Once you add all five of these to your collection, you’ll get 3,000 XP, 10 Pinap Berries, and a special encounter with Wailmer. Again, this encounter will have higher chances of encountering a shiny form.

On the other end of the Pokémon Go spectrum are the Tiny Treasures collection challenges. This set of challenges has players catching minuscule Pokémon in the wild. Here are the five Pokémon you’ll need to add to your collection:

  • Catch 1 Wimpod
  • Joltik
  • Diglett
  • Cutiefly
  • Tynamo

Your reward for catching all five of these adorable little Pokémon is 3,000 XP, 10 Razz Berries, and a special Wimpod encounter with higher shiny chances.
