Aliens: Colonial Marines bursts from the chest of cancellation

Recommended Videos

Does anybody remember Aliens: Colonial Marines? I certainly don’t, but it’s hardly surprising, since the game was canceled by EA in 2002 and never saw the light of day. Now, a whole six years later, the game — very much like the aliens themselves — has undergone a resurrection.

Gearbox (Brothers in Arms) has rescued Colonial Marines from EA’s basement and will be bringing the squad-based shooter to PC and consoles in 2009. It will be published by SEGA.

As a huge fan of all things Xenomorph, this is great news to me. While Aliens games have been spotty, I’d go out on a limb and say they’ve been one of the more successful videogame licenses to date, and the potential is always there for a great Alien-em-up to be had. Just give me some guns, some current-gen graphics, and a bucketful of chestbursting, phallus-headed acid droolers and I’m sold.
