Alan Wake PC recoups costs within 48 hours

Oh PC gaming, that hotbed of piracy where developers can never make any money. That’s where Remedy was able to make back all of its porting and marketing costs for Alan Wake within a 48-hour period. DAT PIRACY!

The game became a number one bestseller on Steam and has done very well for a game that snubbed the PC for two years. So much for Microsoft’s assertion that the game wouldn’t work on computers

“We are very happy with the sales and hitting #1 on Steam at launch was nothing short of amazing,” revealed Remedy’s Aki Järvilehto on the studio forums. “We recouped our development and marketing expenses during the first 48 hours. And yes, we’re certainly very excited about PC.”

Great to hear! Always loved Alan Wake, so I’m pleased to see it’s having a second lease of life, especially with the XBLA spin-off in tow.
