A $50 iOS game? Skylanders: Battlegrounds

Launches this week

The Skylanders franchise is the new Pokemon when it comes to money making power. Take the retail version of the new iOS franchise game, Skylanders: Battlegrounds, for example. It sells at retail for $49.99.

Why so expensive? It comes with a Portal of Power Bluetooth wireless device, three figures, and a App Store download code. You could just download the game from the App Store ($6.99), but what fun would that be?

Yes, $50 is a lot money for a mobile game, but Battlegrounds really is a physical game on a mobile display. I’m all for the toy-meets-device type game — even at $50 — as long as the quality is there. What about you?
