EA partners with Funcom to co-publish The Secret World

Electronic Arts has announced today that it has partnered with Funcom to co-publish the developer’s upcoming massively multiplayer online title, The Secret World.

The Secret World has a decidedly different vibe than many MMOs on the market, set in the modern world, with players wielding everything from shotguns to swords. The MMO has reportedly been in production at one stage or at the Oslo, Norway-based Funcom since the early 2000s.

No release date on the title — which Funcom has previously stated its planning for Xbox 360 and PC — just yet, but a late-2011 or 2012 release seems likely.
