NHL GameCenter LIVE app comes to PlayStation 3 today

It’s a bit difficult to write this with all of sports editor Samit Sarkar’s hooting and hollering, but Sony has announced an NHL GameCenter application for the PlayStation 3.

Available as a download today, the app will allow folks to stream live hockey games in high definition using their PS3 consoles. Many of the functions of the program — including the live streaming, condensed replays of current season games, and more — will require a subscription to NHL GameCenter LIVE. Current subscription rates are $20.99 US a month, or a $169.00 US single payment. (The service is available in both the United States and, obviously, Canada.)

If you’re not an NHL GameCenter LIVE subscriber, you’ll still have access to post-game highlights, team schedules, standings, player stats and profiles, and a full NHL Scoreboard.

The application will be available via the PlayStation Store for $9.99, in addition to the NHL GameCenter LIVE subscription. PlayStation Plus subscribers can download it for free.
