Early 2011: DC Universe Online’s new launch window

While not into MMOs myself, I am curious to see how the genre can perform on consoles. In the case of DC Universe Online, we’ll have to wait until “early 2011,” the game’s new release period.

“As the game heads into external beta testing, this extra time will allow us to address community feedback in a meaningful way,” says Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley. “When we get deeper into external beta, we’ll be able to share more information regarding the new launch date.”

Speaking of the beta, anyone with a VIP key card who has registered at the official website will get “access on a priority basis starting as early as next week.” North Americans who pre-order DCUO by November 15, 2010 are guaranteed beta access by November 30.

And if you opt to pre-order after the 15th, you’ll still get to join the beta — and, as a result, the “Battle of the Legends” event — one week before the game launches.
