EA: Call of Duty will be dead in three years

Recommended Videos

As if to confirm everything Activision said about it last week, Electronic Arts is back with yet more petty sniping. After Eric Hirshberg last week said EA’s mudslinging was bad for the industry, EA has retorted with mocking tones, claiming Call of Duty will die in three years.

“Welcome to the big leagues Eric,” said EA corporate communications chief Jeff Brown. “I know you’re new in the job but someone should have told you this is a competitive industry.

“You’ve got every reason to be nervous. Last year Activision had a 90% share in the shooter category. This year, Battlefield 3 is going to take you down to 60 or 70. At that rate, you’ll be out of the category in 2-3 years. If you don’t believe me, go to the store and try to buy a copy of Guitar Hero or Tony Hawk.”

It is not yet confirmed if Brown then dropped a cherry bomb in the school toilets and drew a chalk penis on somebody’s back, but it’s highly likely, since EA now exclusively hires adult-sized children. Seriously, EA looks pathetic and desperate, and it takes some real damn effort to look like the bad guy when stood next to Activision, but by God have these guys managed it.
