Nintendo hosting 25th Zelda anniversary celebration

So Nintendo released the original The Legend of Zelda for the NES 25 years ago. Thinking about that makes me want to barf, because that means I’m super old.

But it’s also very exciting, and Nintendo is celebrating in all sorts of ways, including an orchestral concert series. If you can’t or don’t want to leave the house, Nintendo’s got your back with an online celebration of the franchise. Nintendo has launched the anniversary’s official website, which plays host to an interactive history, as well as other goodies.

Starting today, Nintendo is inviting Nintendo DSi and DSi XL owners to use Flipnote Studio to create shorts inspired by the series. The best ones uploaded to the service will be chosen by hand by the visionaries behind the franchise: Shigeru Miyamoto, Takashi Tezuka, Eiji Aonuma and Yoshiaki Koizumi. Those chosen will have their creations will be put on the official website, which is some pretty cool bragging rights.
