It’s probably been about fifteen years since I last saw Fist of the North Star in any form. Long enough, at least, that there are only two things I clearly remember about it: A really close-in shot of fingers being forcibly pressed into a human chest like it was made of silly putty and exploding heads. That alone is justification enough for a long-running series of videogames.
Above, you’ll see footage of the Fist of the North Star game that our intrepid Vtoid crew shot at E3 last week. I’ll admit that I generally prefer my 3rd-person action brawlers to move more like a jaguar on meth than this very deliberate-looking gameplay. That said, if you give me the opportunity to punch somebody until they detonate, I’m probably going to be on board no matter now long it’s going to take to accomplish.
